A course designed by John Shomaker is available for 2026 enrollment at the University of New Mexico Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. “Our Water: Where It Comes from, Where It Goes, and Why” gives an overview of New Mexico’s water resources and management, including statewide and Middle Rio Grande water budgets, climate change impacts on supply, strategies for future water development, recent water-rights settlements, and fundamentals of water-rights administration.
