Challenge

Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority was experiencing elevated arsenic concentrations in aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) wells.

Solutions

GLA wholly owned subsidiary John Shomaker & Associates completed ASR assessments of various sites, well assessment plans, studies that identified geologic units responsible for contributing elevated arsenic concentrations to wells, developed specifications for well modifications and implemented modifications that successfully reduced production of groundwater with elevated arsenic, developed drilling and completion specifications for new ASR wells.

Results

We implemented ASR well modifications that successfully reduced production of groundwater with elevated arsenic.
