Challenge
The Hopi Tribe has invested in improving water infrastructure through treatment, additional sources, and infrastructure expansion to serve multiple villages on the Reservation. Communities faced limited access to reliable groundwater resources, declining well production, and the need to provide drinking water that met stringent regulatory standards. Some funding sources, such as CARES Act, carried strict and aggressive deadlines.

Solution
Geo-Logic Associates provided comprehensive groundwater engineering, well design, and construction oversight services to develop four new water supply wells and install six new pumping systems. Our team integrated critical infrastructure with the Hopi Arsenic Mitigation Project (HAMP) regional water system ensuring the delivery of safe groundwater meeting both Hopi water quality and EPA primary drinking water standards. Through close coordination with stakeholders and efficient project execution, we delivered a resilient groundwater supply solution optimizing flow capacity on an expedited timeline.

Results
The project provides reliable drinking water to communities that previously experienced water shortages or relied on hauling water, successfully increasing water supply capacity by approximately 1,000 gallons per minute.
By improving access to safe, dependable water, the project has enhanced public health, strengthened community resilience, and supported long-term water security for over 860 homes and businesses. The timely completion of this technically complex project has markedly improved community health and quality of life. Recognition of this achievement includes the 2022 National Ground Water Association Outstanding Groundwater Supply Project Award, underscoring engineering excellence and innovation.
