Challenge

The City of Mesa has seen significant growth in the eastern portion of the City, a region where Geo-Logic Associates has designed several water supply wells. The area presented many logistical challenges including nearby residential neighborhoods, schools, parks, ongoing development, limited well site space, and existing infrastructure that required careful design and construction services to minimize disturbances to the public. GLA’s long-term involvement with well projects in this area provided a firm understanding of regional hydrogeologic conditions, water quality concerns, and how to meet the City’s needs and objectives.

Solutions

GLA provided a wide range of services for this project including well siting studies, existing well evaluations, well design, technical specifications, bidding assistance, aquifer testing, project and construction management services, and training through multiple brownbag presentations. Our team designed eight new or replacement wells for the City, applied for and obtained all necessary permits, and provided management services over the entire project for the successful installation of the water supply wells.

Results

Our well design expertise in the region led to the installation of high-performing water wells that provide potable drinking water despite being located in a region of the City with elevated arsenic concentrations. Further, our project management ensured that the public was not impacted during well drilling and construction.
