Challenge
The Quill Wastewater Treatment Plant discharges Class 2 reclaimed wastewater for non-potable reuse applications including street cleaning, toilet flushing, and snow making. The New Mexico Environment Department Groundwater Quality Bureau issued a discharge permit to protect groundwater and wastewater from contaminants at the facility. The discharge permit must be renewed every five years.
Solutions
GLA has conducted monthly, quarterly, and annual discharge sampling from various locations at the facility in compliance with its discharge permit. Our team has collected influent and effluent samples, and, using disposable bailers and non-dedicated submersible pumps, collected groundwater samples from four monitoring wells.
Results
GLA has provided consistent sampling for the Quill Wastewater Treatment Plant in accordance with the discharge permit, which must be renewed every five years. Our monitoring has helped to ensure that facility activities do not release contaminated water into the environment.
