Challenge

The Town of Queen Creek has seen significant growth in recent years and faced a critical need to install and/or replace 10 public water supply wells, including 2 lake supply wells. The well site areas have historically been used for agriculture. Nitrate concentrations exceeding the maximum contaminant level (MCL) are common in existing regional irrigation and supply wells presenting a challenge to both water quality and supply reliability.

Solutions

Geo-Logic Associates managed the entire well installation process, from well siting and preparation of technical specifications to well design and construction oversight. We conducted detailed hydrogeologic analyses, including lithologic and geophysical logging, and zonal water quality and hydraulic conductivity testing. We designed new wells that met the Town’s production needs (greater than 1,000 gallons per minute per well) while ensuring that nitrate concentrations in potable wells were below the MCL.

Results

The project successfully delivered high-performance wells, providing sustainable, clean water for the Town’s service area. By combining cutting-edge hydrogeologic analysis with careful construction oversight, we helped the Town improve its water quality and capacity for future growth.

Our well design expertise in the region led to the installation of high-performing water wells that provide potable drinking water despite being located in a region with elevated nitrate concentrations. Further, our project management ensured that the public was not impacted during well drilling and construction.
