Mr. Junk is a civil and environmental project manager with more than 30 years of experience in solid waste and landfill engineering.

Contributions to the Science

He has experience in both the public and private sectors of solid waste management and has held a variety of positions utilizing his engineering background. Mr. Junk’s experience includes solid waste facility planning, permitting, operations, and environmental compliance, operational remediation experience in landfill gas (LFG) collection systems, leachate collection systems, subsurface barrier systems, and groundwater treatment systems. He has designed and constructed landfill liner systems, landfill gas collection systems, and has been involved in regulatory negotiations and compliance.  Mr. Junk also provides technical direction to complex projects including: budgetary management, divestitures and acquisitions, interaction with clients and regulatory officials, oversight of field and staff personnel, and developing projects from conceptual to operational.
