In 1994, Tucson Water began operating a groundwater remediation system known as the Tucson Airport Remediation Project (TARP). To date, the TARP system has treated approximately 48 billion gallons of groundwater and removed approximately 5,303 pounds of TCE from the regional aquifer. TARP is also addressing other contaminants of concern in the soil and groundwater, including 1,4-Dioxane and PFAS.

The City of Phoenix owns several active and closed landfills that require GLA's continuous services, including engineering services, environmental protection services, and groundwater monitoring.

GLA supported the installation of high-performing water wells that provide the East Valley Service Area with clean drinking water, ensuring that the public was kept safe from health hazards, while causing minimal disturbances during construction.
